Jeff Poole is a Partner at Hamrick & Evans, LLP. Mr. Poole focuses his practice on a wide range of business and commercial litigation matters, including complex contractual disputes, entertainment litigation, technological warranty and commercial issues, business ownership struggles, and fraud claims. He works with clients ranging from large international and domestic manufacturers, multi-national technology companies, logistic companies, small to mid-size businesses, large construction companies, as well as individual landlords. He offers time and cost effective results for his clients. In addition, Mr. Poole has a broad exposure to and expertise in various types of civil litigation, both in federal and state courts, including entertainment litigation, commercial fraud cases, real property litigation, landlord/tenant disputes, unfair debt collection claims, premises liability matters, large and complex insurance litigation claims, ADA compliance matters, wage and hour and wrongful discharge matters, environmental CERCLA litigation, and construction defect matters. Mr. Poole also lends his litigation expertise to advise companies on how to best avoid litigation in these matters, such as how to implement best practices to minimize a business' potential liability and exposure.
Within his first year as an attorney, Mr. Poole successfully tried a case as lead trial counsel by obtaining a full and complete defense verdict for his client, a landlord, against former tenants. Since then, he has acted as lead trial counsel on a commercial real estate matter involving real property on Balboa Island in Orange County. Furthermore, Mr. Poole's practice also includes advising new business owners in the areas of entity formation, employment contracts, leasing, insurance, and various other matters regarding business startup. Having managed a business in his professional career prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Poole has a unique insight into the specific needs and goals relevant to new business owners. He has advised business owners operating internet retail stores, graphic design firms and freelancers, landlords, commercial tenants, video game startups, and food and beverage establishments.
Born and raised in Southern California, Mr. Poole received his Bachelor of Arts from the California State University of Long Beach and his J.D. with honors, cum laude, from Southwestern University Law School in 2013. While attending law school, Mr. Poole served as an editor for the school's Law Review, taught an upper-division legal writing course, participated in the school's Moot Court team, and mentored first-year students. Additionally, he served as a judicial extern at the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles for the Honorable Michael R. Wilner where he was exposed to the inner workings of federal court and civil and criminal proceedings. Mr. Poole is admitted to practice in the State of California as well as in all Federal courts in California.
In his free time, Mr. Poole is an avid camper and backpacker who regularly hikes in the greater Los Angeles area and the Sierra Nevada mountain range. He also enjoys video games, board games, and California craft beers and wine.
